LINES I LIKE Postcard Book
We asked Shantell to explore the Whitney's Collection of over 30,000 works by more than 3,600 artists created between the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries to find works that spoke to her about the concept of line.
Works were chosen by artists with very recognizable names such as Warhol and Ono, Holzer and Calder; as well as lesser-known names such as Marisol, Sage, and Diamond. The works she chose were a surprise not only to us, but to her, and span years of creation from 1895 to 2017.
This collection of 24 works shows Shantell Martin to be a student of art as well as a teacher. A consummate observer and one ever dedicated to the details as well as the big ideas.
